Regulating tissues and cells for human application: the past, the present, the future
25 March 2008

The HTA began licensing under the EU Tissues and Cells Directives in April 2006 and the Directives came fully into force in July 2007. The conference will be an invaluable opportunity to:

  • learn more about how the Directives have been implemented
  • attend seminars of particular relevance or interest
  • network with representatives from licensed establishments, colleagues from Europe (who are also working under the Directives) and representatives from professional bodies.

A series of presentations and seminars will cover issues such as: the European coding system, quality management, and the future use and regulation of human embryonic stem cells. Click here for more information.

MSc Death, Bereavement and Human Tissue Studies

This new and unique postgraduate course is designed for all individuals who have a professional, managerial or voluntary involvement with caring for the deceased and their relatives and friends at the time of death and those who have a particular interest in obtaining conent for post mortem examination.

This course will provide you with the understanding, knowledge, skills and confidence in aspects of the legal and ethical framework and an understanding of bereavement and communicating with bereaved people. There is also the opportunity to think in broad terms about teaching, training and research on human tissue and what benefit can be derived from this.
